Please write your DAW and its version, your Windows version, the plug-in’s version, and what happened.

Installation

  1. Run Layer Splitter 1.0 Setup.exe.
  2. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway (see SmartScreen).
  3. Accept the license agreement and follow the steps. The plug-in goes where every DAW looks for VST® 3 plug-ins:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Layer Splitter.vst3
  4. Open your DAW. If Layer Splitter is not in the plug-in list, rescan.

To update, close your DAW and run the new installer over the old one. To remove, use Windows Settings › Apps › Layer Splitter › Uninstall. Your presets and your license stay on the computer in both cases.

SmartScreen

Windows may show a blue window, “Windows protected your PC”, when you run the installer. It appears because the installer is not signed with a paid certificate, so Windows does not know it yet. It is not a virus warning.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Check that the app is Layer Splitter 1.0 Setup.exe.
  3. Click Run anyway.

Download the installer only from this site.

Questions

Does the trial have limits?
No. For 26 days every feature works. Nothing to register, nothing to type.
What happens when the trial ends?
Layer Splitter passes the original sound unchanged, bit for bit — no silence, no noise — so your sessions still play as recorded. Enter a key and your settings come back.
How do I activate my key?
Open the gear › License, paste the whole key (it starts with LS1-) and click ACTIVATE. Every Layer Splitter in every project is licensed at once.
Does it need the internet?
No. The trial and the key work offline.
I have a new computer.
Install Layer Splitter and enter the same key. Keep your key somewhere safe.
Why is everything delayed while I record?
Layer Splitter has about 126 ms of latency. It is made for mixing: bypass it while recording, or insert it after.
WIDTH is grey.
The track is mono. WIDTH works on stereo tracks.
Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. Layer Splitter 1.0 is for Windows.
Where are my presets?
%APPDATA%\PluperAudio\Layer Splitter\Presets — copy them to move them to another computer.
